Columbus City is also known as “Arch City” because of the series of arches found on High Street in the Short North District. The arches were built back in 1900s to power the electric streetcars running along the High Street. The 22 arches have fiber-optic lighting installed and change colors. It’s become a tourist attraction when the arches are illuminated on every first Saturday of every month for Gallery Hop – a monthly celebration of art, music and food in the Short North Arts District.
